Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese practice of balancing the elements in order to attain peace and harmony within a dwelling.

It was used in the past for architectural purposes, such as laying out a cemetery or a home.

Feng Shui translates to wind-water, and it is supposed to use the laws of both heaven and earth.

This practice is used to provide a positive flow of qi, or ch’i, which is pronounced “chee.” Qi is another term used for the life force, or energy that is in everything.

The flow then brings balance to the person’s home and life. There are two tools that are used in the art of Feng Shui, the Compass, and the Ba-Gua, which is an octagonal grid that holds the symbols to the I Ching in it.

The Ba-Gua is used to help you figure out how things in your home are related through Feng Shui. If you learn about the Ba-Gua’s meanings, then you can have an aesthetically pleasing Feng Shui set up using indoor bamboo plants.
